Chilli Prawn

Crispy Chilli Prawns tossed in spicy sauce for ultimate satisfaction.

For the prawns:

  • 300-400g medium prawns (peeled, deveined)

  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste

  • ½ tsp black pepper powder

  • Salt to taste

  • 2 tbsp cornflour

  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour (maida)

  • 1 egg (optional, for extra crisp)

  • Oil for frying

For the sauce:

  • 1 tbsp oil

  • 1 tbsp chopped garlic

  • 2-3 green chillies (slit or sliced)

  • ¼ cup sliced onions or spring onion whites

  • ¼ cup sliced capsicum (optional)

  • 1 tbsp red chilli sauce

  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup

  • 1 tsp soy sauce

  • ½ tsp vinegar

  • A pinch of sugar

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Spring onion greens for garnish

1️⃣ Marinate prawns

  • Mix prawns with ginger-garlic paste, pepper & salt.

  • Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.

2️⃣ Make coating & fry

  • Add cornflour, maida, and egg (if using) to the prawns. Mix well to coat.

  • Heat oil & deep fry (or shallow fry) prawns on medium-high heat till golden & crispy. Set aside.

3️⃣ Prepare sauce

  • In a pan, heat 1 tbsp oil.

  • Add chopped garlic & green chillies, sauté till aromatic.

  • Add onions & capsicum, sauté for a minute (keep them crunchy).

4️⃣ Toss in sauces

  • Add red chilli sauce, ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, pinch of sugar. Mix well.

  • If needed, splash a little water to adjust consistency.

5️⃣ Combine prawns & serve

  • Toss fried prawns into the sauce. Stir on high flame for 1-2 minutes so they stay crispy.

  • Garnish with spring onion greens.
